But first! A PSA 🗣
It’s been almost 2 months since I started this newsletter. As you can tell, I’ve been writing…a lot. For all my veteran readers out there, you are accustomed to the fact that a TPan “Short” is more like a taking a 2 mile hike but not knowing it was straight uphill 😂. The content may be good, but it sure as hell is not short.
Moving forward a “Short” really will be a short, a ~5 minute read or less.
I’ll be adding a new category, “Thoughts”, which will replace the current iteration of Shorts. Current-ish events and my thoughts about them, medium-ish length.
Dives will continue to be Dives. Think HBS case studies but way more fun. Could be current or not, but more focused on a specific company, project, or theme.
As I get busier in the coming weeks/months, I expect my writing to be more focused on shorts or write less often. One thing’s for sure though, I’ll still be writing.

ANYWAYYYYY
a16z is hiring a memelord.
AriannaSimpson.eth @AriannaSimpson
We are hiring a meme lord. Is that you? 😉 a16z.com/about/jobs/
The formal title of the role is "Community Lead, Crypto" and the minimum qualifications are not what you'd typically imagine:
Excellent writer/editor/meme maker, can adapt style and voice across different platforms and audiences
Twitter native and knowledge of memes and internet culture
Hands-on experience owning social media for a high-visibility, high-profile, or high-growth brand
Strong collaborator and effective communicator across all levels with impeccable judgment
Seasoned in social content production across various formats, including video/audio clips, screenshots, charts/graphs, diagrams, tweetstorms, etc.
Strong command of tracking, analyzing, and interpreting data—including implementing and using various analytics and reporting tools; experienced in social listening and monitoring
a16z has consistently been ahead of the curve, and that includes how they communicate to different audiences. The crypto 'dialect' includes heavy meme use, sarcasm, and acronyms. In fact, Gen Z and Gen Alpha dialect is pretty similar (click on the post for the video).

If a16z, which operates in the stereotypically stuffy world of Venture Capital, is looking for dank memes as a skillset, you bet your ass that a lot of companies are (or at least should be) looking for talent that can speak meme too. Duolingo for memes anyone?
On a separate note, I had the pleasure of chatting with Allen, a fellow writer and Web3 enthusiast.
He has a segment called Friday Flights. In today’s edition, he wrote about taking career breaks. For anyone contemplating a career break or wondering how to create a framework around it, check it out!
For those of you in the US, I hope you have a great long weekend.
See y’all next week! :)
